I still remember my first trip to Nantucket in 1997—it was meant to be a simple vacation, but it ended up changing the course of my life. As a North Carolina native with a background in advertising and marketing in Washington, DC, I had no idea that a small island 30 miles out to sea would capture my heart so completely. But it did—and that spark quickly turned into something more permanent.
My background in advertising gave me a strong foundation in brand strategy, client service, and communication, skills that have proven invaluable throughout my career. For the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of building my real estate career right here on Nantucket, helping clients navigate the island’s unique market and build lasting connections along the way. I’m proud to be a part of the Maury People Sotheby International Realty team, working with buyers and sellers who value the island’s beauty as much as I do.
There’s an undeniable magic to the Nantucket lifestyle that continues to draw people back year after year. The natural beauty of the island is timeless—endless stretches of shoreline, quiet walking trails, and weathered homes that hold centuries of stories. Each season brings its own rhythm, and the slower pace of life here allows for a deeper appreciation of the everyday.
For me, Nantucket is more than just a place—it’s a feeling. One of my favorite places is walking along the Miacomet “Loop” early in the morning with my dogs, when the sky is soft and quiet and the world feels still. There’s something about the flow of the dunes, the huge sky and how the ocean meets the horizon that reminds me to slow down and appreciate the simplicity of the island’s beauty. These moments ground me and reflect why I feel so fortunate to live and work in a community that values authenticity, connection, and a deep sense of place.
There’s also a richness to life here that goes beyond the visuals. Whether it’s chatting with Maxine at The Hub, taking an early yoga class at 11:11, or biking into town on a summer morning, Nantucket can turn small moments into lasting impressions. One afternoon, I stopped by Bartlett’s Farm just to grab corn, and ended up in a 20-minute conversation with a stranger about the best beach for sunsets. Those unplanned, easy connections make this island feel like a small village, even at the height of summer. That sense of calm, of perspective—it’s something I think we’re all seeking.
In addition to its beauty and charm, Nantucket also offers lasting value for those considering buying or investing. With limited inventory and historic preservation guidelines that maintain the island’s character, real estate here continues to be in high demand.
That demand—combined with strong seasonal and year-round rental opportunities—has kept the market resilient over time. Buyers are drawn to the long-term lifestyle potential, while homeowners see meaningful appreciation year after year. Whether you're looking for a second home, a rental property, or a permanent residence, Nantucket offers the kind of security and return that’s rare in vacation destinations.
As summer approaches, the island begins to hum with anticipation. Events like the Nantucket Wine Festival, the 4th of July celebrations, the Sustainable Nantucket Farmers & Artisans Market, and local art walks infuse the season with energy and community spirit. I’m looking forward to hitting a bucket of balls at Miacomet Golf and adding pickleball to my list of summer outdoor favorites. I’m also looking forward to hearing Charmaine Wilkerson and Wally Lamb, both authors I enjoy, speak at the Nantucket Book Festival. Every season on Nantucket offers something new to discover—and something familiar to return to, year after year.
Whether you’re dreaming of a getaway or ready to take the next step toward owning a home on Nantucket, I’d love to connect. As someone who has built a life on this island, I understand both the heart and the value behind every home. I’m here not just as a real estate advisor—but as a neighbor, a resource, and someone who believes deeply in what this island offers.
If you’re ready to explore what Nantucket could mean for you, I’m just a call or message away.
